What is our aim?

One of the key sources for funding the squad is the York City Knights Squad Builder Fund, which is administered by four trustees headed by Andy Gomersall, a York rugby league fan for seventy-three years.


The fund was started in May 2012 with three trustees, Andy Gomersall, Ian Wilson and Simon Hall. In August 2015, Ian and Simon left and were replaced by Leanne Cooper, Norma Beavers and former Knights player Jack Stearman. This increased the number of trustees to four and the same four trustees are in place today.

Our role is to collect money from many sources and use it solely for the retention and recruitment of players in our First Team Squad.

Squad Builder has contributed to the signings of a large number of players with over twenty-five since 2017 alone, including those of Kieran Dixon, Ryan Atkins and Mikey Lewis!

You can donate as and when you are able, or you can set up a regular donation via Standing Order, Direct Debit, or using the PayPal button on site. For regular donations, we would recommend a Standing Order. 

Yes, you can set up a regular Standing Order through your bank. For the Squad Builder Bank Details, please use the message option in the bottom right corner, or send an email to squadbuilderfund@yorkcityknights.com. We aim to reply within 48 hours.
